Karen Gillan Joins Highlander Reboot

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Karen Gillan has joined the cast of Amazon MGM’s reboot of the classic film Highlander, alongside Henry Cavill, Dave Bautista, Marisa Abela, and Russell Crowe. Filming is set to begin in late September.
It was previously reported that Chad Stahelski, known for the John Wick franchise, will direct the fantasy action film, with Michael Finch writing the screenplay based on the 1980s cult classic.
In the original film, Christopher Lambert played the immortal warrior Connor MacLeod, and Sean Connery portrayed Ramirez, a master swordsman who pursued greater power through battles with other immortals. In the reboot, Cavill and Crowe will take on the roles of MacLeod and Ramirez, while Marisa Abela has been cast in another role. Dave Bautista will play Kurgan, an immortal barbarian who has slain others across the centuries—a role originally performed by Clancy Brown. Gillan will portray Heather, MacLeod’s mortal wife.
Gillan is best known for her role as Nebula in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers films, as well as the blockbuster Jumanji franchise from Sony. She recently starred alongside Tom Hiddleston in The Life of Chuck.
